25 Years Old!

No not me, ha I wish, but the club has now been going for 25 years!

Initiated by former members of The Flying Monkeys (1998 to 2001) when that club dissolved in 2001 the original meeting place was at the Hare & Hounds Crackley Bank Shifnall, now the Shifnall Cottage Indian.

Elliot Bissel was initially chairman until the role was passed to Myler who has been carrying the baton of responsibility, well most of the time, ever since. Sadly Eliot was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2004 but the legacy of what he helped to create lives on.

Over the years the Bug Splatz have become well known in local motorcycle community for their popular family friendly rallies held at the Habberdasher’s Arm, Knighton, Staffs and in the Telford area as whole for the organised Christmas charity rides, run originally from Wylie & Hollands motorcycle shop, loved by motorcyclists and other locals alike.

Considerable sums of much needed and welcomed funds have been raised over the years through many fund raising events for various charities and local causes, this year the recipients are the Air Ambulance and Breath of Life CIC.

There is an inclination to say that the Bug Splatz Rally Club has grown into what it is today but it’s probably more truthful and more impressive to say that the club has remained through all these years true to the original intentions of being a welcoming fraternity for those who love all things motorcycle! Well almost all things, I’m not so keen on the cold, or the rain, the price of fuel, or the guy at every petrol station who says I had one of those…

There are others besides Elliot we have known and lost along the way, those who we shared good times with and who will always hold a place in our hearts that invoke fond memories.

We move forward and continue our task in honour of those who move us.

Welcome

Hi, welcome to the new Bug Splatz Rally Club blog.

Here you will find club related news items, details of upcoming events plus archives and galleries of past activities.

We have Facebook pages for real time announcements but these pages are here for static stuff we may need to refer to and they provide a historical record we may want to look back on from time to time. They also cater for anyone looking to join the club to see who we are and what we do.

Any suggestions you may have for additions or improvements to this site please let me know.

Dave.
